Snow Days Are the Best Days

Well after much waiting and anticipation the snow finally got here!  The girls were bouncing off the ceiling all day watching for flurries.  They thoroughly enjoyed themselves in our inch of snow!

The cutest little boy turned five on Saturday. Although we might be a bit partial because he's our nephew, we think he is the cutest 5 year old we know!

Working the plan...

So...I don't really do well with resolutions.  I know that is so surprising! Ha.  Not really.  I am much better at planning than executing so I made a "plan" of things I would like to do in 2014. One of those plans is get some media organized.  I have been trying to devote a little piece of time to it each day, normally while the house is still sleeping.
It has been like therapy for me.

I get a cup of some warm yummy goodness, put in a little video from ten years ago and sit and marvel at all that the Lord has done in our lives and how blessed I am to be a mama.  Often a little time and distance makes you appreciate things so much more, and getting to watch the girls when they were tiny has made me look at them differently today.  So many things I swore I would never forget and when I see them, I am overwhelmed with joy AND how little my brain can retain anymore!

It will probably take me all of 2014 to get through it all but it is a labor of love and is blessing me along the way.

Here's a flashback Friday for you.  So see her personality today in this little clip.  We were in Hilton Head and this is what she would do in her spare time.
I love the joy in her heart!

Ringing in 2014

So if you had told me last January that we would be living in a new house and a new state and that it would all happen from January to May, I would have probably run crazy in the woods. My sweet friend Aimee told me the words "And suddenly" were her precious Mama's favorite words in the bible. Well apparently one of the qualities of the Lord is being spontaneous.

If you look at the scriptures they are filled with "and suddenly's". Matthew, Isaiah, Numbers,… some 41 times God issues a something out of nowhere situation. I am sure the shepherds were quite shocked at their "and suddenly". Luke 2:13-15 "And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."

So I have decided to embrace the "and suddenly."  I keep telling God, "I am an Oak tree!" And He keeps telling me, "I am the potter you are the clay." I love the journey He has taken our family on and I wouldn't trade a second of what it has taught us. Sometimes though I feel like He has to take me around the mountain more than once to get the lesson to sink in. I am hopeful in 2014 I am a better listener to His plans, more faithful in the discipline of studying His words and more open to the prompting of His spirit.

That is my resolution. To get out of the way and let the Lord lead. That's a tall order for a control freak like me.

Ok, ah ha moment! Maybe that's why He keeps dealing me the "and suddenly"!

Thank goodness He loves us in spite of ourselves. Happy 2014 y'all.
May your "and suddenly's" draw you more and more to His loving side.
